Canine Communication 101
for
Puppies, Adolescent, and Adult Dogs

  • Group & Private Adolescent/Adult classes available for dogs  5months and older 
  • Class focus is on developing the basic level  communication skills required for raising a well-behaved puppy and/or dog
  • Behavioral Issues addressed for each age group
Six Week Course
Maximum of 5 Canine Students in Group Classes
​
    **Please note due to Covid 19 in order to meet CDC                          standards private training is currently the only training                option for puppies 8-19 weeks old.
 

Six one hour group classes focusing on how to positively communicate to your dog basic obedience cues as well as managing unwanted behaviors.

 

  • Obedience cues:  sit, down, stay, come, leave it, take it, drop it.

  • Both verbal and hand signals will reviewed

  • Introduce basic leash manners

  • Learn how to manage and/or eliminate unwanted behaviors such as jumping, excessive barking, nipping/biting, chewing on inappropriate items, darting through doors, pulling on leash.

  • Crate training

  • House training

  • Socialization and Enrichment

  • Skill level of both handler and dog will be tested during the last class.

  • Clicker used for training will be provided by Wagging Willow

Canine Communication 201
Take Your Canine Communication 101 Skills to the Next Level!
  • Available for dogs 5months and older
  • Pre-Requisite Canine Communication 101 or equivalent required
  • Duration, Distance, and Distractions added to basic obedience cues and leash walking skills.
  • introduction to "wait" at the door, "go to your spot/bed", "heel" through a crowd with distractions.
                          Six Week Course
              Maximum of 5 Canine Students Per Class

Six 1 hour classes focusing on fine tuning the basic obedience cues introduced in Canine Communication 101 in addition to the following:  

  • Duration, Distance and Distractions will be added at a higher degree of difficulty to include real world experiences.  

  • New cues "wait", "go to your spot/bed", "heel" will be added. 

  • Strong emphasis on focus, recall, and impulse control exercises.

  • Your pup will be able to "Heel", give you eye contact, and "leave it" allowing you to walk through a crowd with a well-mannered pup!

 

    *Please note these group classes will be held                    outdoors

Canine Communication 301
(Canine Good Citizen Training and Certification)
  • Prepare for the 10 elements required for certification.
  • Learn how to wean your pup off food rewards.
  • Attain formal recognition for being a responsible pet parent with a well-mannered pup!
  • Take the first step in becoming a Therapy or Service dog team!
  • Tuition includes test during the 6th session
  • Pre-requisite requirements:  CC 101 & CC 102 or equivalent.  

  CANINE GOOD CITIZEN TEST REQUIREMENTS​​ 

  • TEST 1: ACCEPTING A FRIENDLY STRANGER 

  • TEST 2: SITTING POLITELY FOR PETTING 

  • TEST 3: APPEARANCE AND GROOMING 

  • TEST 4: OUR FOR A WALK (Walking on a loose leash) 

  • TEST 5: WALKING TROUGH A CROWD

  • TEST 6: SIT AND DOWN ON COMMAND/STAYING IN PLACE

  • TEST 7: COMING WHEN CALLED

  • TEST 8: REACTION TO ANOTHER DOG 

  • TEST 9: REACTION TO DISTRACTIONS 

  • TEST 10: SUPERVISED SEPARATION 

 

               

 

                 Tuition: $190 per dog (includes test in sessions 6)

Private Training
(now includes service dog training!)

  • Available for dogs of all ages.
  • Personalized training to meet your needs and the needs of your dog located in your home and or public spaces.
  • Behavior Adjustment Training available for dogs with fear based behavioral issues.
  • Safe Training for puppies 8-19 weeks old in your home! 
  • Service Dog Training

  • Can include basic obedience cues for puppies and adult dogs.

Susan Vergara will walk you through the various training options available. Still not sure?  Then purchase  a gift certificate.  The gift certificate you give can be applied towards any Wagging Willow Service including party rentals!
